Metachronos overall score = 8.2 / 10

Positive
- Outstanding cutscenes
- Amazing story with plenty of characters
- You can modify your gun as you like
- Alot of extras after you finished the game

Negative
- Not much enemy variaty
- Cutscenes are too long
- Dosen't let you carry of heal supplies

Dirge of Cerberus is a spin-off of the famous Final Fantasy VII. The main character is Vincent Valentine. The game happens 3 years after the original story. Maybe the game didn't turn out as the other Square-Enix games simply because this is a Third-Person Shooter and not an RPG.

The one you'll play with is Vincent Valentine, he's one of the most important characters in FFVII. He is a weird type of man, 'cos he dosen't speak too much and he's always in a red coat. Dirge of Cerberus story is totally different from Final Fantasy VII story. The story happens 3 years after Cloud defeated Sephiroth and saved the world. Dirge of Cerberus's main villian is deepground, an organization that wants to revive Omega and destory the world. Many of Final Fantasy VII's characters are in the game like Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie, Cid and others. Reeves, another character, he is the man that tells you that you need to help him destory deepground.

Dirge of Cerberus focuses more on its cutscenes than its actual shooting. Some cutscenes are over 10 minutes long and they are outstanding. One thing that this game has is that you can modify your gun as you like. Well not exactly as you want. You can apply the sniper scope to zoom.

The story is amazing too. The cutscenes do a good job telling the story but they slow the pace of the game, especially at the end of a chapter (normally these are the longest). Cutscenes are powered by superb voice acting. The bosses are pretty challanging and most of them are a pleasure. The gunplay is pretty easy and straightforward but not fun and enjoyable as i could have been. There isn't enough variaty of enemies to fight. The foes only get stonger and more in groups. You will normally battle soldiers in blue, maybe some armed with bazookas and samurai swords but nothing special. Story is long and maybe can confuse you 'cos you may think the game is gonna end in at half game. Bosses can be tough. Still they are straightforward. Only is particulary tough 'cos the boss is fast and agile and difficult to hit. The others, most of them just move slowly and attack you from below or launch a powerful attack.

You wanna eat the gun?

In this game you can also fire magic like fire, thunder and blizzard mostly to inflict more damage to your enemy. There are much weaponary but there are some good. The cerberus is a good gun, this is the gun that you'll start with. The Limit Breaker is a cool form. You can for some time transform into chaos, the beast that lives into Vincent. This last long that Devil May Cry's transformation, where Dante transforms into a devil. The game refuses to let you equip more than 4 potions, 2 Hi-potions, 2 mega-potions and some other little stuff. This maybe a disadvantage 'cos in a large area, enemies can easily inflict a lot of damage on you and the potions only cure 200 HP.

After you beat the game there are alot of missions and extras. The story will take you about 10 to 12 hours and there is a training mode that might help. Like most Japanese games that are translated to the USA, have versions missing. This game has missing multiplayer mode.Dirge of Cerberus is really not for Final Fantasy fans. More is for shooting fans which want something different. If you're a fan just rent it and try it first. This game can be difficult to recommande to everybody but can be easily some fun.
