One of the best beat-'em-up on the PS2. In God Hand you'll fight kick some enemy butts while performing some awesome moves. The game has some reaction commands to attack enemies from behind. The game rocks but it's hard. Of course, after all the creators are Capcom, the ones that made Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and Onimusha.
God Hand is a game that starts in a deserted town where Gene, the main character is with his girlfriend. Gene is the one that has the god hand, a powerful demonic hand. Only Gene's right arm has this godly power but he's a martial arm master, i think. There are some demons in the game that appear when killing a regular enemy. These are tough to beat, especially without the god hand. There are some buyable moves which are really cool. You can change Gene's moves. The game may seems tough if you don't change moves. God Hand does have some weapons with enemies drop. They are really good considering that they inflict a good amount of damage on your foes. in combat you can press any button from triangle, O, and square. Action is cool and some reaction commands might appear when an enemy is gonna attack you from behind or when they are dazed. There are some cool wrestling moves that enemies can perform too. The god hand activated when the bar is full. It dosen't last long but the action is faster. Even Gene runs faster. There are some special moves that can be used by either beating enemies or collect some items. They normally consist of a powerful kick, a stomp, a DDT and even a low blow. Items like healing stuff can be tough to find. These can be found in barrels and stuff that can be broken. Some civilians may give you some help with these.
One of the best things in God Hand, apart from its awesome moves and action, it's the crazy story. Cutscenes are really impressive and cool to watch. You'll encounter some crazy bosses and enemies along the way. Well all the game is crazy. Even the story even though it dosen't make really sense. Levels are really long. God Hand gets tough even on the easiest difficulty. Talking an opponent one-on-one is ok, but not even there are more than 3, especially when one of them is a demon. Some of Gene's attack may seem slow. Oh, and it can be tough to climb levels, since if you get get knockdown by enemies the level from 2 can eaily drop. This may become problematic. Luckily you can dodge or counterattack enemies. When activating the god hand you have to be extremely fast in button mashing 'cos the god hand bar takes too much time to re-charge and can be easily wasted if there aren't powerful enemies nearby. The god hand is helpful because it easily can beat some powerful enemies and lower bosses health. The game may feels too hard at time thanks to few save points. These are normally between levels.
Soundtrack fits the game perfectly. Music is really cool and dynamic and makes the game even better. God Hand's presenatation is also good, even though graphics are great as the sound. Places don't change much, you will normally encounter enemies in groups and they almost look the same. Camera is ok, just turn Gene. Camera might become a big problem when you're in small areas when there are enemies behind.
With some of the best moves you can find in any game, funny story and awesome soundtrack makes God Hand worth for any beat-'em-up fan. The game only available on the PS2. If it wasn't for its difficulty God Hand could have been much better. It could have been a superb game. But still it a buy and not a rental.
