Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is the sequel of the first Lego Star Wars. The first game included the first 3 episodes, and now LSW II includes the 4th, 5th and 6th Episode. These episodes are: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. It may look stupid, but it will take you a lot of time to complete the game at 100%.
The first that you will be is the Mon Eisley Cantina. You will first be Princess Leila if that interest you. The story isn't continues or linear. After you completed a level you can either choose to continue or to go to the Mon Eisley Cantina. By obtaining money you can buy characters, lego blocks and others. You can also create a lego player, which can only be used in the Free Play mode. The Free Play mode is a good idea. Before you enter a level the game ask if you wanna play the story or free play. In free play you can choose any character you have unlocked. Unlike the story mode, you won't have characters beside you, you have to press the R1 or L1 buttons to switch characters. The story is a little different. The co-op mode can be used in the story mode too. It's great. But the camera might become a pain, especially when you're far away from each other. Combat is generally easy. Shooting is automatic because you just press the button and it will automatically shoot at an enemy. Be careful you can also kill your allies. But they will can back. The game might look easy, but you need to use your head. It's not very straightforward. There are some puzzles and you might have to destroy something or either build something. There is no game over. When you lose your 4 hearts, you will just lose money. You're character will re-appear and you can continue. That's why it's not for hardcore Star Wars fans. Building lego blocks is cool. You just have to hold the O button when you see some blocks moving and the character will build it. There are less than 10 characters that can use magic. If you have these characters in the story mode, you have to use them. One of them is Darth Vader. He's a playable character.
Well, there is a lot to think about. Still camera is also a bit painful in 1 player. The fix position makes it annoying when you're far or in close quarters. The game could have been better. Music is bad but could have been a lot better. There is not voice acting in the game. It could have been better if there was. The combat still remains straightforward. Although the game makes you think, shooting is easy, too easy. When you're close to an enemy, your character will hit him with his hands. Also allies sometimes don't seem to help to much. An enemy that can be destroyed in one shoot, they take too much to beat him. Something I forgot, you can also wear hats to confuse the camera of locked doors which are reserved to stormtroopers or bounty hunters. There are some doors that can only open them in the free play. Most of them are stormtroopers or bounty hunters. Since you don't have them earlier. These normally include money or bonuses, but nothing you really missed. There are also some things like traffic lights in every level. 10 to be exact. When you collect all 10, you will probably have something.
Lego Star Wars maybe not challenging enough but non-hardcore fans will have a good time with this. If you're looking for something different, you really should check it out, 'cos it takes time to get 100%, if it's possible. You might finish all the episodes and be less than 50%, that's normal. Mine was 43.6 %. Lots of unlockables, characters and others.
